Kent State head women's golf coach Mike Morrow has announced the signing of Erin Hawe to a National Letter of Intent. The Walton, New Zealand, native will attend Kent State and play golf for the Golden Flashes beginning in the fall of 2010.
Kent State sophomore Mandi Morrow (Kent, Ohio/Roosevelt) has been named the Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week following her outstanding performance at the prestigious Mercedes-Benz Women's Collegiate Championship Oct. 16-18.
Kent State wrapped up play at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in blustery conditions Wednesday at 6,223-yard, par 72 Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Flashes finished eighth in the 18-team field after carding a final round 311 (+23).
A day after shooting the fifth-best score in school history, Kent State - and the rest of the field - struggled in much tougher conditions at the 6,223-yard, par 72 Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Flashes fell two spots to sixth place heading into Wednesday's final round after at 17-over par, 305.
Paced by Martina Gavier's two-under par round, Kent State opened the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown with 285 to stand in fourth place, just two shots out of the lead. The three-under par total is the fifth-best round in school history.
