Two members of the Kent State coaching staff were recently honored for their softball success. Head Coach Karen Linder was inducted into the Otterbein College Athletic Hall of Fame, while Assistant Coach Amy Densevich was inducted into the Summit County Softball Hall of Fame.
Kent State's 2009 softball team recently had a school record 12 players named National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar Athletes for having a grade point average above 3.5 during the 2008-09 academic year.
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its Top Ten All-Academic Teams based on grade point averages from the 2008-09 school year on Monday (Sept. 28). Among all Division I teams in the nation, Kent State finished seventh with a 3.43 GPA.
The KSU Fall Invitational has been canceled due to poor field conditions at the Allerton Softball Complex.
Kent State will take on Ashland Sunday, Sept. 27 in a doubleheader at the KSU Softball Field beginning at 1:30 p.m.
With its sights already set on a fifth consecutive MAC East Division title, the Kent State softball team recently released its 2010 schedule as well as its upcoming slate of games this fall.
