DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Kent State fell to perennial power Duke Tuesday morning by a 4-1 score in the 10th-place match at the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship.

Presented by the National Golf Coaches Association, the 16-team field was competing at the par 72, 6,280-yard Legends Course at LPGA International. LSU defeated Auburn by a 3-1-1 score to claim the title.

Sophomore Mercedes Germino picked up the lone win for the Flashes, knocking off Kimberly Donovan by a 1-up margin. Germino built a 4-up lead through nine holes only to have Donovan rally to knot the match with one hole remaining. However, Germino would prevail with a par.

Kent State is off until heading to Chapel Hill, N.C. for the Lady Tar Heel Invitational Oct. 9-11.
