CLEVELAND — Kent State junior free safety Brian Lainhart (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) was named the East Division Defensive Player of the Week by the Mid-American Conference on Monday. The honor is the third in the past two seasons for the 2008 second team All-MAC selection.
Lainhart tied for the team lead with 11 tackles, forced two fumbles and added an interception in Kent State’s loss versus Iowa State last Saturday (Sept. 19). Lainhart picked off his third pass of the season to tie for the conference lead and now has nine interceptions in the last 10 games. He is tied for seventh on Kent State career list with 11 interceptions.
