For her successful weekend, junior midfielder Rachel Miller (Bathurst, Australia/MacKillop College) of the field hockey team has been named Kent State Athlete of the Week. This past weekend, the Golden Flashes improved to 3-0 in the Mid-American Conference with a win at Central Michigan 2-1 Friday and a thrilling 2-1, overtime victory over Ohio Sunday.

In the win over the Chippewas, Miller assisted on both goals. Sunday against the Bobcats in overtime, Miller rebounded her own shot and found the back of the cage to give Kent State the victory.

For the season, Miller leads the team with four assists while she is second on the team in goals (five), points (14) and game-winning goals (two).

The Kent State field hockey team returns to action next Saturday when it travels to Oxford, Ohio to take on Miami. The Golden Flashes finish the first round of MAC play the following day when it faces Ball State in Muncie, Ind. Both games are set to begin at 1 p.m.
