FOXsports.com picks KSU senior guard as the 38th best shooter

KENT, Ohio – After leading the team with 63 three-pointers in just 25 games last year Kent State fans are well aware of the shooting exploits of senior guard Tyree Evans (Richmond, Va. / Motlow C.C.[Tenn.]). Earlier this week his talents were recognized by FOXsports.com’s senior college basketball writer Jeff Goodman who selected Evans as the 38th best shooter on his list of the country’s top 50 shooters.

The highest rated and one of only two Mid-American Conference players on the list, Evans shot nearly 40 percent (63-158) from three last season and was even more impressive in the second half connecting on 47 percent (41-87) of his attempts. He finished second in the league during conference play with 2.19 three-pointers made per game and made five three-pointers in a single game four times.

This summer during Kent State’s four-game tour through Italy, the Richmond, Va. product led the team with 16.8 points per game, including hit 13 three-pointers.

In addition, Evans was also tagged in a list of ‘Mid-Major Players to Watch’ by ESPN.com under the ‘Don’t Forget About These Guys’ category.

The Golden Flashes can officially begin practice for the 2009-10 season on October 16th. Kent State begins the season on Nov. 13 at home against Samford.
