KENT, Ohio -- On the heels of Kent State's record-setting performance in
last Saturday's 20-11 victory at Ohio, the defensive staff has been named to
FootballScoop.com's "Game Changing Coaches" list for the week.
Pete Rekstis (Defensive coordinator/Safeties), Matt Edwards
(Defensive ends), Craig Aukerman (Linebackers), Larry McDaniel (Interior
defensive line), Richard McNutt (Cornerbacks) and David Marquis (Defensive Graduate
Assistant) were recognized after the Golden Flashes held the Bobcats to a
school-record minus-nine yards rushing. In addition, KSU set season-highs with
seven sacks and 15 tackles for loss, while limiting Ohio to just 164 yards of
total offense.
The Flashes currently rank fourth in the nation in tackles
for loss (8.8 per game) and eighth in sacks (3.3 per game), leading the
Mid-American Conference in both categories.
Kent State (4-4, 3-1 MAC) hosts Western Michigan (4-4, 3-2)
Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Dix Stadium in a key conference tilt for the Flashes,
who enter the game in second place in the MAC's East Division.
