TOLEDO, Ohio – Kent State senior Arjola Prenga was named All-Mid-American Conference First Team, sophomore Liva Brivule was second team and Meredith Paskert made the All-MAC Freshmen Team, announced the conference office on Wednesday (Nov. 19).

Prenga was the first Kent State volleyball player to make the first team since 2007. In 25 matches this season, Prenga led the team, was second in the MAC and 28th in the nation with 4.25 kills per set. Accolades this season include MAC Player of the Week honors Sept. 20 after being named MVP of the Kent State Mizuno Open. She also received all-tournament honors at both the Patriot Invitational and the Raider Challenge.

In her one season with Kent State, Prenga etched her name in the record books with the fourth most kills per set and ninth most attack attempts (1,062) for a single season.

Brivule was named to the second team after finishing second in the MAC with 1.09 blocks per set. She helped the KSU defense rank second in the conference and 32nd in the nation with 2.61 blocks per set.

In 2009, Brivule finished second in a single-season in KSU history in blocks assisted (107), fourth in total blocks (123) and seventh in blocks per set (1.09). She also finished second on the team in kills (341) and kills per set (3.02).

For her defensive prowess and offensive success, Brivule was named MVP of the 2009 Patriot Invitational.

Pasket was named to the conference all-freshman team after leading the Golden Flashes with 32 aces on the season and finished third in both kills per set (2.26) and blocks per set (0.70). She was named to the all-tournament team of the IPFW Invite, the Patriot Invitational and the KSU/Mizuno Open.

Paskert is the third player in the last four seasons to be named to the All-MAC Freshman Team, joining current senior Katie Veatch in 2006 and current junior Lauren Jones in 2007.

Kent State finished the season 14-17 overall and 7-9 in the MAC after losing to Buffalo in a five-set thriller Tuesday night in the first round of the 2009 MAC Volleyball Tournament.
