Two recently drafted Flashes will meet up on Independence Day when the Boise Hawks (Rohan) will host the Eugene Emeralds (Tremblay) for a four-game set. After a rough start to the season, Rohan has 10 hits in 39 at-bats for a .256 average. Tremblay is 11-for-39 with a .282 average, eight runs scored and an RBI for the Emeralds.
Quintet of Kent State Pitchers Have Not Allowed an Earned Run this Summer
Five Kent State pitchers have not given up an earned run while Kyle McMillen leads the Licking County Settlers in batting average in early summer baseball league action.
Brett Weibley, playing for the Orleans Firebirds in the Cape Cod League, is 1-0 with eight innings pitched. He has allowed four hits and three walks while striking out 10. Against the Harwich Mariners, Weibley recorded the final two outs in the eighth before the Firebirds rallied for four runs in the ninth for the 6-4 win.
McMillen has seen time on the mound and also in the field with Licking County. He leads the team with a .361 batting average, 13 hits and 17 total bases. He also has 10 runs scored, four RBI, two doubles and one triple. At the center of the diamond, McMillen has allowed no runs and no hits in seven innings pitched while striking out four and allowing only two walks.
Ryan Mace has two starts for the Stark County Terriers, While he has no decisions, Mace has allowed only three hits and one walk while striking out seven over 10 innings pitched. Robert Sabo has allowed only one unearned run while striking out six in six innings pitched for the Waynesboro Generals of the Valley Baseball League.
