Corey Conners, Men's Golf

Sophomore men's golfer Corey Conners (Listowel, Ontario) has been named the Kent State Student-Athlete of the Week.

Conners shot a team-best 216 (75-71-70) to finish at even par and tied for third at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate @ Blackthorn Club this past weekend. His performance led the No. 23/25-ranked Golden Flashes to their second team title this season. Kent State sat 16 strokes off the lead after the first round, but led by the steady play from Conners the team shot a final-round 278 to capture a seven stroke victory. The 15-team field had five teams ranked in the top 40, including two in the top 10. Tied for 24th after the first round, Conners closed with a 71 and a 70 to climb up 21 places and earn his highest finish since joining the Golden Flashes program.

The Golden Flashes have one tournament remaining on their fall schedule this season.  The team travels to Georgia for the prestigious United States Collegiate Oct. 23-25.
