Weather Forces Numerous Changes To Kent State Athletic Events
It’s anyone’s guess what will happen with Punxsutawney Phil and his shadow tomorrow, but Mother Nature is already weighing in with her thoughts. Wednesday’s forecast for snow, sleet and ice has forced the Kent State Athletic Department to make a number of changes to its upcoming schedule of events.
The women’s basketball game with Eastern Michigan slated for 7 p.m. Wednesday in the M.A.C. Center will be played as scheduled. However, the Golden Flashes’ contest with Western Michigan that was supposed to take place Sunday, Feb. 6 has been pushed up a day to Saturday (Feb. 5) at 7:30 p.m. The game was moved to accommodate a number of changes in the Mid-American Conference schedule due to the storm.
Fans should note that the change means there will now be a doubleheader in the M.A.C. Center Saturday night, with the men squaring off against Central Michigan at 5 p.m., and the women following afterwards versus Western Michigan. Tickets to the men’s game will be good for admission to both contests. The Varsity “K” Hall of Fame induction ceremony will still take place that afternoon at 1 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom.
Meanwhile, the men’s basketball game slated for Wednesday night (Feb. 2) at Western Michigan has been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. in Kalamazoo.
Off the court, the department canceled both of its National Signing Day events planned for Wednesday afternoon (Feb. 2) at 3 p.m. in the Hub and 5 p.m. at Water Street Tavern.
