Kent State Announces Broadcast Agreement With 640 WHLO/iHeartRadio
Kent State Sports has a new radio home & a 24/7
iHeartRadio Channel
KENT, Ohio – Kent State has announced a
partnership with 640 WHLO & iHeartRadio making the station the
Official Home of the Kent State IMG Radio Network for football and
men’s basketball. The multi-year agreement begins
immediately and allows fans to follow the Golden Flashes from
anywhere in the country.
The nationwide coverage for Kent State can be heard through the
640 WHLO iHeartRadio channel which works on a PC or smart phone
such as the iPhone, Droid or Blackberry. iHeartRadio is also
supported on tablets as well as HD radio receivers. A free,
all-in-one digital service iHeartRadio lets you find more than
1,000 Live Stations or create commercial-free Custom Stations
featuring the artist you select and similar music.
In addition to Kent State Athletics airing on 640 WHLO, the Golden
Flashes will be launching a 24/7 iHeartRadio channel with exclusive
Kent State University content. The 24/7 channel will debut
this fall and continue to expand to include various other
University related programing. The channel also allows Kent
State to broadcast additional sporting events such as baseball to a
nationwide listenership. Along with the iHeartRadio channel,
the 24/7 Kent State Radio channel can be found at 106.9-HD2.

Nielsen. “The partnership also allows us to increase
the awareness of Kent State sports through the Clear Channel media
and entertainment platforms.”
The new radio agreement gives Kent State women’s basketball
a new home on Fox Sports 1350 AM which will also host a weekly Kent
State Sports Radio Show from the Water Street Tavern.
Golden Flashes’ fans were introduced to 640 WHLO &
iHeartRadio this June when the station carried all three games for
Kent State baseball in the College World Series.
Kent State fans needing assistance in the downloading the free
iHeartRadio App on their smartphone are encouraged to attend the
Kent State Football Fan Fest on Thursday, August 16th at Dix
Stadium. The iHeartRadio street team will be there ready to
assist and answer any questions.
