Flip for the Cure: No. 25 Gymnastics Defeats Northern Illinois Friday

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State Gymnastics team, ranked No. 25 in the nation, defeated Northern Illinois 195.675-193.375 in the Flip for the Cure meet Friday, February 7 in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center in Kent.
The Golden Flashes (6-1, 3-0 MAC) finished with team scores of 48.825 on the vault, 48.825 on the bars, 48.900 on the beam and 49.125 on the floor.
Kent State took first in each event as Amiah Mims saw two first place finishes with two personal bests in the vault (9.850) and the floor exercise (9.900). Marie Case tied Mims on the vault with 9.850 as Case took first on the balance beam with a 9.850. Jaymi Baxter took first on the uneven bars with a score of 9.850 as Rebecca Osmer took second with a score of 9.825.
Chelsea Drooger and Case both tied for third on the uneven bars (9.750) Case and Jordan Hardison tied for second on the floor exercise with a score of 9.850. Hardison and Nicolle Eastman both took third on the balance beam with a 9.775.
Marie Case finished with a 39.300 in the all-around as the Golden Flashes beat Northern Illinois (2-2, 2-1 MAC). Kent State now holds the 38-7 all-time series with taking the last 30 meets.
The No. 25 Golden Flashes next head to Mount Pleasant, Mich. to take on Central Michigan for an Mid-American Conference matchup at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 16.
