KENT, Ohio- Kent State Head Coach Paul Haynes announced a pair of adjustments to his coaching staff on Friday. Don Treadwell has been promoted to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach and Shawn Clark has been named assistant head coach, while continuing his duties as offensive line coach.
Throughout his career, Treadwell has served as an offensive coordinator at four other Division I programs, most recently at Michigan State from 2007-10.
"Don brings a fresh new perspective of where we want to go with our offense," Haynes said. "His track record is impeccable when it comes to the development of players and having productive offenses."Â
During the 2014 season, Treadwell served as Kent State's running backs coach.
"Through this whole search process, I knew what I wanted," Haynes said. Â "After interviewing a number of candidates, I realized what I was looking for was right down the hallway."Â
Treadwell's 29 years of college coaching includes three seasons as a head coach in the Mid-American Conference at Miami.
"I have a high deal of respect for him as a person," Haynes said. "He's a great teacher and mentor. His body of work speaks for itself and I'm really excited for the opportunity to have him lead this offense."
Clark recently completed his second season as run game coordinator at Kent State and led the continued development of a young offensive line in 2014.
"I've had a long relationship with Coach Clark," Haynes said.  "I've seen his development from when he was a graduate assistant to now. Every year he becomes a better football coach and I think he's one of those young guys that's in line to be a head coach someday."Â
Clark will now take on additional administrative responsibilities with the team.
"It's only fitting to put him into a role where he's not only an offensive line coach with a huge part in what we do offensively, but now steps into even more of a leadership role. When I'm not available, he'll be in charge of the team."
The Golden Flashes closed out their 2014 season with a 27-24 victory over archrival Akron and recently added three early signees to its incoming class for 2015.
