Gymnastics Picks Up First Win of Season over Broncos

KENT, OHIO – On 90's night inside the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center, Kent State's gymnastics team defeated the Western Michigan Broncos 194.900-193.325, Friday, January 23, for their first victory of the season.
Kent State (1-3, 1-1 MAC) posted team scores 48.700 (vault), 48.625 (bars), 48.600 (beam), and 48.975 (floor) to finish with their 194.900 final score.
Western Michigan (2-1, 1-1 MAC) scored totals of 48.500 (vault), 48.000 (bars), 48.600 (beam), and 48.225 (floor) to equal their 193.325 final score.
Rachel Stypinski won two individual events with a score of 9.875 on both the beam and floor. Rebecca Osmer won the uneven bars, 9.800, to lead the Golden Flashes.
Brooke Timko led the team on the vault with a second place finish, with a 9.850.
Chelsea Drooger and Michaela Romito followed Osmer on the bars for second and third place, respectively. Drooger scored a 9.775 as Romito had a 9.725.
Nicolle Eastman finished in second place on the beam with a score of 9.750 as well as third place on floor with a score of 9.850. Jordan Hardison also placed third on the floor with a score of 9.800.
The Golden Flashes will host Pittsburgh on Friday, January 30 as part of the third annual Beauty and the Beast meet at 7pm in the Memorial and Athletic Convocation Center for their second home meet this season.
