Members of the Kent State baseball team joined together with Akron baseball players on Monday to make the annual visit to Akron Children's Hospital.
The visit is a lead up to the Diamond Classic for Kids, the charity game played at Canal Park between the two teams with proceeds benefitting the hospital.
The student-athletes and Flash spent time with patients and passed out posters and team memorabilia, causing smiles and laughter from the children under the hospital's care.
"It was an eye-opening experience," said senior Tommy Monnot. "It made me appreciate all that I have. I'm glad we were able to come spend time with the kids."
The 9th annual Diamond Classic for Kids is set for Thursday, May 14 at Canal Park in Akron, home of the Akron RubberDucks. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. with gates opening an hour in advance. Tickets are $5 while children six and under get in free. Tickets my be purchased during business hours at the M.A.C.
