Kent State announced the recent addition of Ross Bowsher as its director of football strength and conditioning. Bowsher recently served as the first strength and conditioning coach at Arkansas Tech University.
"We're really excited to have Ross join our football family," Head Coach Paul Haynes said. "He brings a lot of experience and has been mentored by some of the most respected strength coaches in the business."
At Arkansas Tech, Bowsher implemented and oversaw the strength and conditioning efforts of 10 sports and nearly 300 student-athletes. In 2015, Arkansas Tech's football squad finished 9-3, winning the Heart of Texas Bowl.
With nine years of experience at the Division I level, Bowsher worked at Purdue University from 2011-13. He oversaw the sports performance programs of baseball and track & field, while assisting with football. During his time as coordinator of strength and conditioning for offensive and defensive linemen, the Boilermakers made two bowl appearances.
Prior to Purdue, Bowsher was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Butler from 2005-11. In 2009, the Bulldog football team won the Pioneer Conference and the Gridiron Classic.
From 2003-05, Bowsher served as associate director of sports performance at Athlete's Edge in Indianapolis.
A former college baseball player and international power lifter, Bowsher has been in the top 50 of the world Power Lifting USA rankings in the squat and deadlift and has been in the top 100 in the bench press.
Bowsher earned degrees from Vincennes University and the University of Indianapolis and completed a certification program at IUPUI.
The Golden Flashes' first spring football practice is set for Tuesday, Feb. 16.
