Women's T&F Dominates in the Field on Final Day of Spire Invitational

Geneva, Ohio – The Kent State women's track and field team dominated the field competitions with three victories, Saturday Feb. 13, at the Spire Invitational in Geneva, Ohio.
Junior Morgan Estes broke her own indoor school pole vault and took first place at a height of 4.12m (13' 6.25"). Estes had previously set the record at last year's Spire Invitational.
Senior Dior Delophont came away with two victories on the day in the triple jump and high jump. In the triple jump, Delophont posted a season-high mark of 12.89m (42' 3.50"), while posting a mark of 1.73m (5' 8") in the high jump. Junior Lauren Pannel also finished with a mark of 1.73m, accomplishing the jump on her second attempt, taking second place behind Delophont.
Sophomore Cayla Carey took ninth in the long jump at 5.51m (18' 1"). In the shot put, three Golden Flashes finished in the top-20, with Rebecca Leppelmeier (11th, 14.04m), Ada Nicholson-Burley (13th, 13.9m), and Jai'Lyn Mosley (19th, 13.11m).
On the track, the 4x400m relay team consisting of Jorian Ordway, Tyler Williams, Taylor Farquhar, and Chelsea Laury moved into second all-time in the Kent State record book with a time of 3:42.04, good enough for third on the day. Ordway set a season-high in the 400m at 55.86.
Taylor Wickey and Olivia Gaus both set personal records in the 800m run with times of 2:12.83 and 2:13.21, respectively. In the one mile run, Caroline Sauers (4:55.34) and Olivia Davis (4:58.40) also set personal records.
The women's team returns to action Saturday, Feb. 20 in the Kent State Tune Up.
