Gymnastics Defeats Bowling Green 196.125-195.350

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State gymnastics team (6-3, 4-0 MAC) defeated Bowling Green (4-8, 0-3 MAC) 196.125-195.350, Sunday Feb. 21 to remain undefeated in the Mid-American Conference this season.
The Golden Flashes posted scores of 48.725 (vault), 49.125 (bars), 49.025 (beam), and 49.250 (floor), leading to a season high score of 196.125.
On vault, Jordan Hardison, Kennedy Plude, Brooke Timko, and Nicolle Eastman finished in a four-way tie for third place, each scoring a 9.75. Sophomore Michaela Romito scored 9.725, followed by junior Skyelee Lamano with a 9.65.
On bars, sophomores Ali Marrero and Rachel Stypinski each scored 9.875 tying for first place. Freshman Sarah Lippowitsch posted a career high 9.8, tying with Romito for fourth. Brooke Timko turned in a 9.775, followed by Lamano with 9.725.
The Golden Flashes scored a season-high 49.025 on beam with Stypinski taking the top spot with 9.9. Junior Milena Fabry and Ali Marrero each scored 9.8, tying with Lauren Feely and Rachel Reis of Bowling Green for fifth place. Plude posted a score of 9.775, while Eastman posted a 9.75. With a 9.675, Brooke Timko brought the Flashes to their season-high score.
For the first time this season, all six Golden Flashes competing on floor scored a 9.7 or higher. Stypinski had the highest overall score with 9.925, followed by Lamano and Hardison who each scoring a 9.875, a season-high for Lamano. Junior Samantha Gordon finished in fourth place with a score of 9.8. Nicolle Eastman posted a 9.775 and Romito scored a 9.7 bringing the Flashes score to a season-high 49.250.
The Golden Flashes look to remain unbeaten in the MAC this season when they head to Mount Pleasant, Mich. on Sunday, Feb. 28 to take on Central Michigan.
