THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The No. 10 Kent State University women's golf team finished second at The Dickson, hosted by Houston at the par 72 Tournament Course at The Woodlands Country Club.
The Golden Flashes earned their second straight runner up finish with an overall score of 3-over par 867. After posting scores of 284 and 291 Monday, Kent State ended the tournament with a third-round score of 4-over par 292. That includes No. 30 TCU, No. 17 Texas A&M and No. 35 Texas Tech, who all rounded out the top-5.
"We ran into a strong team in Florida State this week, but we had some moments of great golf throughout the tournament," said head coach Greg Robertson. "It was nice to see us finish strong today to move up to second. We have about a week and a half before our next tournament, so that will give us some time to work on a few areas where we can improve. It's going to be all about our attitude and preparation as we hit the last couple of months of our schedule."
Kent State finished with two players in the top-10, led by freshman Pimnipa Panthong. The nation's 11th ranked golfer shot a 73 Tuesday, putting her overall score at 4-under par 212 and in a tie for fifth. After rough start to the morning, Panthong ended her round with three birdies over the final 10 holes.
Wad Phaewchimplee finished one stroke behind Panthong at 3-under par 213 and in a tie for seventh place. The senior carded a 75 in the final round, ending a run of 10 straight rounds of 74 or better.

They combined for seven birdies Tuesday. Wrapping up the lineup is Marissa Kirkwood, who registered a 79 Tuesday. She finished tied for 82nd with a score of 241.
