Weibley Selected By Texas Rangers in 19th Round

NEW YORK - Junior right hander Brett Weibley was selected with the 15th pick in the 19th round (586th overall) today (June 8) by Texas in the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. Despite being the 71 Kent State player to be drafted, it is only the third time that a Flash was taken by the Rangers.

 

In 2010, Weibley went 3-1 and was second on the team with a 4.30 ERA and was third with three saves. He allowed 18 earned runs while striking out 35 in 37.1 innings pitched for the season. For his career, Weibley appeared in 43 games with one start and had a 4-1 record with four saves and an ERA of 5.67. He has 67 strikeouts in 66.2 innings pitched for his career with the Golden Flashes.
