Kent State's Starn Honored as CBI Central Region Pitcher of the Week
KENT, Ohio -- The honors keep rolling in for Kent State junior left-handed starting pitcher David Starn (Hudson, Ohio) after his solid season debut that helped propel the Golden Flashes to a 6-1 triumph over No. 19 Georgia Tech Sunday (Feb. 23).
Starn was honored as the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Central Region Pitcher of the Week today (Feb. 20) after tossing seven innings of four-hit ball and surrendering one earned run to go along with six strikeouts. He improved his career record to 10-3.
This marks the third time Starn has been recognized for his performance this week as he also garnered Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week and CollegeBaseball360.com Primetime Pitcher of the Week accolades.
Kent State (1-2, 0-0) looks to keep its winning ways going this weekend (Feb. 25-27) at the Johnny Gill Memorial Tournament in Rock Hill, S.C. The Flashes will face both Wagner and host Winthrop twice over three days.
