Anzevino Named To Rimington Watch List For Second Straight Year

 

KENT, Ohio – Kent State fifth-year senior center Chris Anzevino (Warren, Ohio) has been named to the Rimington Trophy 2011 Spring Watch List. Recognized for the second year in a row, Anzevino is one of 42 players on the preliminary list for the trophy that is awarded annually to the top center in the Football Bowl Subdivision.

 

The 6-2, 305-pound Anzevino was a third team All-MAC honoree in 2011 and has started all 36 games for the Golden Flashes over the past three seasons.

Created with the support of the Boomer Esiason Foundation, the award was established in 2000 in honor of Dave Rimington. A two-time All-American at Nebraska, he is the only player to have won the Outland Trophy twice. A member of the College Football Hall of Fame and the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-America Hall of Fame, Rimington was a first round draft choice of the Cincinnati Bengals in 1983, where he was a teammate of Esiason's for four years.

 

Proceeds from the Rimington Trophy Presentation banquet will benefit cystic fibrosis research.
