Terry Named to Academic All-America First Team
TOWSON, Md. - Junior running back Jacquise Terry (Phenix City, Ala.) became the first two-time Academic All-American in Kent State football history Tuesday. Terry was one of two Division I running backs and the only Mid-American Conference player named to the 24-member CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team.
An aeronautics major, Terry carries a 3.66 cumulative grade point average in the classroom and leads the Golden Flashes’ offense on the field with nine touchdowns.
A dual threat, Terry leads the Kent State rushing attack with 542 yards and seven touchdowns on 151 carries. He also ranks third on the team with 23 catches for 285 yards and a pair of receiving touchdowns.
Terry leads the Flashes with 827 all-purpose yards and his nine total touchdowns are tied for the fourth most in the Mid-American Conference. He has also made four tackles on special teams.
Coming through as KSU’s big-play specialist throughout the season, Terry has six plays (3, rushes, 3 receptions) of over 30 yards this year.
Last season, Terry became the sixth player in Kent State’s history to earn Academic All-America honors since the awards began in 1952. In 2009, he led the Flashes in rushing with 649 yards on 138 carries
The Golden Flashes (4-7, 3-4 MAC) will close out their regular season Friday, Nov. 26, hosting Ohio at 11 a.m. in Dix Stadium on ESPNU.
