Keith and Bowman Earn Weekly Honor

Two Kent State players were honored Monday for their roles in a 41-10 victory over Murray State on Sept. 2. Sophomore quarterback Spencer Keith was named Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week, while senior Anthony Bowman Jr. was named National Kickoff Returner of the Week by College Football Performance Awards.

Keith turned in the first three-touchdown performance of his career, going 24-for-35 for 275 yards. He found seven different targets, and has now thrown for more than 270 yards in each of his last four games dating back to last season.

Bowman claimed his second national honor in as many seasons after returning the second half’s opening kickoff for a 92-yard touchdown against the Racers. In 2009, Bowman also returned a kick 92 yards for a touchdown against Miami.

The Golden Flashes (1-0) will visit Boston College (1-0) Saturday (Sept. 11) with a 3:30 kickoff on ESPNU.
