Rinehart Earns Second Award in Four Weeks
CLEVELAND - Kent State junior punter Matt Rinehart (Dover, Ohio) was named Mid-American Conference East Division Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday following the Golden Flashes’ 33-14 win over Ball State at Dix Stadium.
Rinehart turned in what was statistically the best day of his career, averaging 52.0 yards on four punts as the Flashes posted a 43.0 yard net on the day against the Cardinals. His effort included a 62-yard blast, his second-best punt of the season.
Ranked first in the MAC in average (42.6 ypg) this season, Rinehart has been named Special Teams Player of the Week twice in the last month. An All-MAC First Team selection last season, he is one of 51 punters in the nation that has been nominated for the Ray Guy Award.
The Golden Flashes (4-4, 3-2 MAC) host Temple (7-2, 4-1) in a key MAC East matchup Saturday at 2 p.m.
