Spring Practice Day 10: Wide Receivers
KENT, Ohio - The skies cleared just in time for Kent State to practice outside Monday morning at Dix Stadium. Both sides of the ball had to stay on their toes for the final half hour as scenarios and formations changed early and often with very little time between snaps.
Assistant Coach Thad Jemison talked afterward about the wide receivers.
"From day one we put in a whole new offense and a whole new way to work," Jemison said. "And the players are getting better and better every day. The effort is great. As long as the players understand what we're doing, this is going to be something special."
The Golden Flashes return five letterwinners at wide receiver, including junior Tyshon Goode and senior Sam Kirkland, who combined for 115 catches, 1,342 yards last season.
"It's more mentally challenging this spring," Goode said. "You've got to go through a classroom learning experience to know what you're doing in this offense. But it's fun once you know what you're doing."
