KENT, Ohio — Kent State will once again be
represented in the National Football League's Annual Pro Bowl this
Sunday (Jan. 29) as former Golden Flashes Antonio Gates and James
Harrison help make up the roster for the AFC.
This season marks a San Diego Chargers tight end franchise record
eighth Pro Bowl selection for Gates as he has surpassed the
previous marked held by Kellen Winslow. Gates finished his
ninth NFL season this year with 778 yards and seven scores on 64
catches. Earning in the year the former basketball standout
for Kent State all-time became San Diego's all-time leader in
receptions.
On Feb. 18 Gates and several of his teammates will be at the
M.A.C. Center for the Golden Flashes SEARS ESPN BracketBuster game
as the Kent State Department of Athletics celebrates the 10th
anniversary of the 2002 Elite 8 team.
Harrison, the 2008 Defensive Player of the Year, is making his
fifth consecutive Pro Bowl appearance. He recorded nine sacks
and 59 total tackles in 11 regular season games this past season.
The 2012 Pro Bowl can been seen this Sunday (Jan. 29) at 7:00 pm
on NBC.
