KENT, Ohio — The 2012 Kent State football schedule is now official.  In conjunction with the Mid-American Conference the Golden Flashes announced their 12-game regular season on Thursday afternoon.  Highlighting the slate are five home games in Dix Stadium this fall which include contests against conference foes Ball State (Sept. 29), Western Michigan (Oct. 20), Akron (Nov. 3) and Ohio (Nov. 23).

Under First Year Head Coach Darrell Hazell, the Golden Flashes had a strong finish to the 2011 season winning four of their final five games.  Now with a team full of experienced veterans and an influx of highly talented recruits, the team is looking to "Rise As One" and continue its pursuit of the MAC championship.  There has never been a better time to become a part of the excitement surrounding the up and coming program.

Take advantage of the opportunity to support the team by purchasing your season tickets today by calling the Kent State ticket office at 330-672-2244.

In addition to the four conference home games, the Golden Flashes also welcome Towson to Dix Stadium on Aug. 30.  Kent State is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 1972 Tangerine Bowl team during the Thursday night contest which also serves as the season opener to the 2012 campaign.

Other non-conference opponents for Kent State this fall include trips to Kentucky (Sept. 8), Army (Sept. 13) and Rutgers (Oct. 27).

Season ticket holders that renew their tickets before July 1, 2012 will have their name entered to win a trip for two to travel with the team for the game on October 27 in Piscataway, N.J against Rutgers.  Get additional entries for every new season ticket holder you refer.  New season ticket holders will then get entered to win a VIP Fan Experience package during a home football weekend complete with field passes, hotel and dinner.

The MAC road slate for Kent State starts with a mid-week trip to Buffalo on either Sept. 19-20 for a game that will be aired live on ESPNU.  An official date and time for the game will be selected by the network.

The Golden Flashes also travel to Eastern Michigan (Oct. 6), as well as East Division foes Miami (Nov. 10) and Bowling Green (Nov. 17).  The 2012 MAC Championship game takes place on Friday, Nov. 30 at Ford Field in Detroit.

"I like our schedule because it gives us space between games for a few extra days to prepare for Kentucky, Buffalo and Ball State," said Hazell."  "Having that extra preparation time really helps, especially early in the season."

Kent State began its spring practice schedule on Tuesday and will commence the 15 sessions over the next four weeks with the annual Spring Game on April 21 at 2:30 pm.  The team is also hosting a FREE youth football clinic prior to the game from 1-2 pm.
