Nix Claims Second MAC Player of the Week Honor

CLEVELAND - Kent State sophomore defensive tackle Roosevelt Nix (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) was named Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week Monday for the second time this season.

Nix matched a career-high of six tackles in Kent State’s 35-3 win over Akron and spent much of his day disrupting the Zips’ backfield. He tallied 1.5 tackles for loss, broke up two passes and nearly blocked a punt, which resulted in a 10-yard kick and led to a Golden Flashes touchdown. Nix helped his defense hold Akron to just 58 yards rushing on 27 attempts.

The 2010 MAC Defensive Player of the Year currently leads the Golden Flashes with 13.0 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.

The Golden Flashes will host Eastern Michigan Saturday in their home finale at 2 p.m.
