Nix Named to CDS Preseason All-American Team

Sophomore defensive lineman Roosevelt Nix’s record breaking 2010 season earned him another honor this past week.

Nix was named to the Consensus Draft Services FBS preseason All-American team’s honorable mention defense.  The sophomore earned the selection after being named the 2010 Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year and 2010 MAC Freshman of the Year.

The Reynoldsburg, Ohio native led the MAC with 20 tackles for a loss and his 10 sacks broke Kent State’s freshman record.  Nix also recorded 43 tackles, and did so while starting only one game.

Nix and senior punter Matt Rinehart were among 26 MAC players recently named to Blue Ribbon College Football Yearbook's forecasted all-conference team.

The MAC is well represented on the CDS All-American squad and is led by Toledo junior wide receiver Eric Page.  Page was named a First-Team All-American as a kick returner and an honorable mention selection as a wide receiver.

Also representing the MAC on the honorable mention squad are Bowling Green center Ben Bojicic, Northern Illinois center Scott Wedige, Temple linebacker Adrian Robinson and BowlingGreen punt returner Eugene Cooper.
