Moving With The Flashes at West Main Elementary

On Friday, Feb. 24, student-athletes from Kent State’s football, field hockey, soccer and women’s golf teams visited students at West Main Elementary School in Ravenna for some hands-on health and physical education activities.

“Moving With The Flashes” consisted of 10 stations throughout the building with topics such as balance and coordination, benefits of dance, cardiovascular endurance, proper nutrition and the components of wellness.  Each topic was accompanied by a fitting activity.

Assistant football coach Brian George, who also serves as the team’s community coach was in attendance.

“It was a great day for both our student-athletes and the students at West Main,” George said.  “I think the students found it exciting and beneficial.  They enjoyed the activities and learned about their health.”

Kent State football players were also at Davey Elementary on Friday, reading to students.  The Golden Flashes make numerous visits to area elementary schools throughout the year and help preschool students in the Head Start Program.

Next week, football players will be visiting Akron Children’s Hospital.
