Carla Johl Selected To Attend NCAA Summit
Kent State junior headed to California for Sports and Entertainment Summit
KENT, Ohio — Kent State field hockey player Carla Johl (Hamilton, New Zealand / Waikato) was selected to attend the Inaugural 2011 NCAA Sports and Entertainment Summit this weekend (March 4-6) in Los Angeles. One of only 100 student-athletes selected from a field of 318, Johl was accepted for her previous experience and dedication to the industry.
"Carla is a student-athlete that strives to be the best on and off the field," said Head field hockey coach, Kathleen Wiler. "She leads by example and has a strong work ethic."
The Entertainment Summit is designed to give student-athletes the opportunity to explore the sports and entertainment industries from the perspective of the professionals who currently work in the field. The weekend will be interactive, educational and inspiring and include panel discussions, educational workshops and a community service project.
A member of the 2010 Academic All-MAC Field Hockey Team, Johl completed a successful season this fall by earning a spot on the All-MAC Second Team for the second time in her career. Along the way she scored seven goals to help lead the Golden Flashes to their third straight MAC Regular Season title and second MAC Tournament Championship in three years.
