Gymnastics Preview: Kent State Continues Against MAC Challengers at Ball State

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State gymnastics team (1-1, 1-1 MAC) continue conference action this weekend when the Golden Flashes take on Ball State at 7 p.m. in Muncie, Ind.

SCOUTING THE FLASHES
Kent State utilized a high-energy crowd Jan. 20 in the team's home opener against Eastern Michigan, as the Golden Flashes defeated the Eagles 194.150-191.050 at the MAC Center.
The Golden Flashes had the top scores on three of the four events, led by senior Rachel Goldenberg (Doylestown, Pa.); she posted event-bests on both the vault and floor to lead Kent State, and was named MAC Specialist of the Week for her efforts.
Also winning against Eastern Michigan was Rachel Guida (Cumberland, R.I.), who posted a 9.850 on the uneven bars. Freshman Whitnee Johnson (Columbia, Mo.) captured all-around honors for the second straight meet.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Ball State is 1-2 on the season and is coming off a road setback to Central Michigan Jan. 21. Nicole Allen is fifth in the MAC in the vault this season (9.767 average), while Julie Cotter is fifth on the bars (9.725).
