Conners Picks Up Second MAC Golfer of The Week This Season

Kent State sophomore has earned honor following two of his last three meets

KENT, Ohio – Kent State sophomore Corey Conners (Listowel, Ontario) was named the Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week this week after a career best runner-up finish in the No. 21 ranked Golden Flashes first event of the Spring at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate presented by Cleveland Golf this past weekend.

Conners, who was named the MAC golfer of the Week after a third place finish in the Bank of Tennessee in October, has now earned the honor following two of his last three events.

He finished runner up by a single stroke with a six-under 210 (67-75-68) this past weekend as the sophomore closed out the tournament with his second sub-70 round of the weekend posting a four-under 68 on Sunday.  His effort earned him a career best runner-up finish and his second top five of the 2011-12 season.  Led by Conners' performance the Golden Flashes shot an even par 864 in their first event of the spring to place 8th in the 24 team field that was regarded as as the fourth-toughest spring collegiate tournament of 2012 by Golf Digest.

Kent State returns to action on March 5-6 in Louisiana for the Louisiana Classic held at Oak Bourne Country Club.
