Ball State Tops Flashes in Single Game

Box Score

MUNCIE, Ind. - Another Kent State softball game was canceled due weather Friday, but not before Ball State upended the Golden Flashes 10-0 in a single game before the rains came. A six-run first inning by the Cardinals was too deep of a hole for the Flashes to climb out of.

The first seven Cardinals reached base in the bottom of the first on three hits, three walks and a hit-by-pitch. With her team already up 4-0, a two-out single to center by Alison Mercado made it a six-run lead.

Ball State added a run in the third and three more in the fourth. The 10-run lead ended the game after the top of the fifth.

Playing for the first time in nine days, the Flashes were held to three hits, but Beth Cinadr ripped her MAC-leading 15th double of the season.

Heavy rain came down and did not let up, preventing the two teams from even starting the second game.

The Golden Flashes (16-22, 6-3 MAC) head to Oxford Saturday and Sunday to take on MAC East rival Miami.
