Kent State Women’s Basketball Falls To Marshall In Season Opener

Flashes look to bounce back next Tuesday at Robert Morris.

 

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. -- The Kent State women's basketball team lost to host Marshall in its 2011-12 season opener, 93-55, Friday (Nov. 11) at the Cam Henderson Center.

 

The Golden Flashes (0-1) were led by junior guard Trisha Krewson (Sandusky, Ohio), who tallied a game-high 18 points in her Kent State debut. Freshman guard Jamie Hutcheson (Ancaster, Ontario) added nine points and a game-high four assists in her first collegiate start while junior center Leslie Schaefer (Verona, Wis.) chipped in eight and recorded a team-high six rebounds (two offensive, four defensive).

 

Three Marshall (1-0) players finished in double figures in scoring, led by 16 apiece from redshirt sophomore guard Jasmine Shaw and redshirt junior guard Shynisha Johnson off the bench. Johnson knocked down a game-high four three pointers. Junior center Leandra King hauled in a game-high eight boards (five offensive, three defensive).

 

Kent State's two-game season-opening road trip concludes next Tuesday (Nov. 15) at Robert Morris.
