Kent State Women’s Basketball Splits Season Series With Loss At Ohio
Schaefer scores a career-high 13 points.
ATHENS, Ohio -- The Kent State women's basketball team lost a Mid-American Conference East Division road game at Ohio, 51-45, Saturday (Feb. 18) at the Convocation Center.
The Golden Flashes (5-18, 4-9 MAC) have lost six straight and settles for a season series split with the loss to the Bobcats (12-15, 5-8 MAC). Kent State defeated Ohio, 68-65, on Jan. 7 at the M.A.C. Center.
Kent State rallied from a nine-point half time to deficit to pull to within three points with 5:10 to play but were unable to overcome 32 turnovers.
Junior forward Leslie Schaefer (Verona, Wis.) tallied a career-high 13 points and hauled in seven rebounds. Junior guard Tamzin Barroilhet (Sainte Maxime, France) joined her in double figures, adding 12 points. Junior guard Trisha Krewson (Sandusky, Ohio) just missed out on double figures, totaling nine points. Freshman guard Jamie Hutcheson (Ancaster, Ontario) pulled down a game-high nine rebounds while freshman guard Itziar Llobet (Sant Cugat de Valles, Spain) dished out a game-high five assists.
Kent State travels to Buffalo to battle the Bulls Tuesday (Feb. 21) for its final regular season road game of 2011-12. Tip time is 7 p.m.
