The Kent State women’s basketball team visits Athens, Ohio, to take on Ohio Saturday (Feb. 18) as the Golden Flashes play the first of their final two road regular season games of the 2011-12 season. Opening tip is slated for 2 p.m.
The Golden Flashes (5-17, 4-8 MAC) look to put an end to a five-game losing skid and look to sweep the season series over the Bobcats (11-15, 4-8 MAC).

Kent State put together a 12-9 run over the final five minutes of play to earn a 68-65 victory Saturday (Jan. 7) over Mid-American Conference East Division foe Ohio at the M.A.C. Center.
The Golden Flashes snapped an eight-game losing streak and earned their first conference victory of the 2011-12 campaign with the victory over the Bobcats. Kent State has won five straight over Ohio and is now 38-9 all-time against the Bobcats under Lindsay.
A trio of juniors led the way for the Flashes with double-digit scoring efforts. Barroilhet led all scorers with a career-high 20 points, marking the second time this year she has reached double figures. She also totaled a career-high seven rebounds. Forward Diamon Beckford (Upper Darby, Pa.) and guard Trisha Krewson (Sandusky, Ohio) each achieved double-doubles. Beckford scored a career-high 19 points -- including a game-high four threes -- and chipped in 10 rebounds while Krewson added 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds and matched Barroilhet with a game-high three steals. The effort marked the second double-double of Krewson’s career and eighth time this season she has hit double digits in scoring. Beckford’s double-double was the first of her career and the contest marked the fourth time this season she has totaled double figures in scoring.
A Kent State victory Saturday over Eastern Michigan would:
• Improve Kent State to 306-202 all-time in MAC play. The Golden Flashes have won at least 10 conference games 18 times in 30 seasons of MAC action -- all of which have come during Lindsay’s tenure.
• Improve Kent State’s all-time record in the month of February to 112-109. Kent State went 4-3 in the second month of the calendar year in 2010-11. The Flashes have posted winning records in February 23 times in 36 seasons -- including 18 times in the last 22 seasons under Lindsay.
The Kent State women's basketball team suffered a heartbreaking overtime loss to Miami, 69-65, in Mid-American Conference East Division action Wednesday (Feb. 15) at the M.A.C. Center.
The loss was the fifth straight for the Golden Flashes. The RedHawks swept the season series over Kent State.
Kent State led by as much as 11 points in the second half with less than 10 minutes to play and by as much as five with just over three minutes to go, but the RedHawks outscored Kent State, 8-3, over the final minutes of regulation, to send the game to OT with the score knotted at 57-all. Miami took the lead on a three pointer for the first basket of the extra five minutes and never relinquished the advantage.
Freshman guard Itziar Llobet (Sant Cugat de Valles, Spain) led the Golden Flashes with 14 points. Junior guards Trisha Krewson (Sandusky, Ohio) and Tamzin Barroilhet (Sainte Maxime, France) each chipped in 12 points apiece. Junior center Leslie Schaefer (Verona, Wis.) hauled in a team-high 10 rebounds.
Kent State is just one win away from tallying 600 all-time victories. The Golden Flashes are aiming to join Bowling Green (689) and Toledo (626) as the only MAC schools with at least 600 wins.
Kent State travels to Buffalo to battle the Bulls Tuesday (Feb. 21) for its final regular season road game of 2011-12. Tip time is 7 p.m.
