Kent State Women’s Basketball Closes Regular Season With Loss To Bowling Green

Golden Flashes will travel to Ohio for MAC Tournament First Round Game Saturday (March 3) at noon.

KENT, Ohio -- The Kent State women's basketball team closed out the 2011-12 regular season with a 91-48 loss to Mid-American Conference East Division rival Bowling Green Tuesday (Feb. 28) at the M.A.C. Center.

 

The Golden Flashes (6-20, 5-11 MAC) clinched the No. 9 seed in the 2012 MAC Tournament and will travel to Athens, Ohio, to face No. 8 Ohio Saturday (March 3) at noon in a first-round matchup. Kent State split the regular season series with the Bobcats (13-17, 6-10 MAC), earning a 68-65 in at the M.A.C. Center on Jan. 7 but dropping a 51-45 decision at the Convocation Center on Feb. 18. The winner of Saturday's contest will face the winner of the contest matching up No. 5 Central Michigan and No. 12 Ball State next Wednesday (March 7) at noon at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. Bowling Green (24-5, 14-2 MAC) clinched the conference's regular season title and No. 1 overall seed in the tournament with the win over Kent State coupled with Eastern Michigan's loss to Central Michigan.

 

Junior guards Tamzin Barroilhet (Sainte Maxime, France) and Trisha Krewson (Sandusky, Ohio) each reached double figures in scoring with 12 and 10 points, respectively, to lead the Flashes. Freshman guard Jamie Hutcheson (Ancaster, Ontario) dished out a game-high five assists.

 

Four Falcons hit double digits in scoring. Sophomore guard Jillian Halfhill came off the bench to lead all scorers with 17 points. Redshirt sophomore forward Alexis Rogers achieved a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Redshirt junior forward Danielle Havel and sophomore guard Noelle Yoder each totaled 10 points apiece.
