Women's Basketball Falls To Gannon In Exhibition

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State women's basketball team forced 26 turnovers, but it wasn't enough to slow Gannon in a 70-61 exhibition loss on Sunday afternoon at the M.A.C. Center. Forward Diamon Beckford (Upper Darby, Pa.) led the Golden Flashes in their preseason debut, scoring 18 points.
Guard Tamzin Barroilhet (Sainte Maxime, France) added another 12 points for Golden Flashes along with six steals.
Jumping out to an early lead, Kent State lead by as many as 11 points in a first half that saw the Golden Flashes make more than 50% of their shots. Kent State eventually went into halftime leading 39-35 after Melanee Stubbs (Merrillville, Ind.) scored the final four points of the period. Gannon took control in the second half however, taking the lead for good with 12:25 left.
The Golden Flashes travel to the University of Massachusetts for their next match-up. Game time is set to tip-off at 2:00 p.m.
