Trio Advances To Match Play At Womens Amateur Public Links
NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The match play portion
of the 2010 United State Women's Amateur Public Links
Championship will have a very distinct Kent State feel to it, as
all three Golden Flashes advanced out of the 36-hole stroke
play.
Rising senior Martina Gavier
(Cordoba, Argentina) is seeded second after carding rounds of 69-68
to post a five-under 137 — just one of five players to finish
under par. Meanwhile, rising juniors Shamira Marshall (Macedonia, Ohio) and Mercedes Germino (Necochea, Argentina)
are seeded 17th and 29th, respectively. Marshall tied for 15th at
three-over 145 (72-73), while Germino was tied for 23rd at
four-over 146 (70-76).
Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn claimed medalist honors at 135
(-7).
The field of 156 was trimmed to 64 for match play, which begins
Wednesday morning (June 23) and runs through Saturday at the
6,133-yard, par 71 Warren Course at Notre Dame.
