Scouting the Flashes

The Kent State women's golf team was unable to move up the leader board Tuesday during the final round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic at Rio Mar Country Club, but the Flashes didn't move back, either. Kent State finished tied with Northwestern for sixth place in the 18-team field that featured 12 of the top 50 teams in the country.

Sarah Bradley (Cambridge, New Zealand) was honored as the Mid-American Conference Co-Golfer of the Week last week after her team-best top-25 finish at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. She carded an opening round one-over 73 on her way to posting a 227, two strokes off her career best for 23rd place. Bradley finished above nine golfers ranked in the top 100 by Golf Week in a tournament that featured 12 of the top 50 teams in the country in the 18-team field. As a team, Kent State finished tied for sixth in the tournament.

Kent State will travel five golfers to this week's event. Seniors Bradley and Martina Gavier (Cordoba, Argentina) and juniors Mandi Morrow (Kent, Ohio), Mercedes Germino (Necochea, Argentina) and Shamira Marshall (Macedonia, Ohio) will represent the Flashes.

Scouting the Tournament Field

Kent State is one of 15 teams that will be participating at the Central District Invitational: Arkansas, Baylor, Indiana, Iowa State, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas A&M and TCU. All 15 teams are in Golf Week's top 100, with LSU leading with a No. 4 ranking. Including Kent State (37), 12 teams are in the top 50.
