Women’s Golf Gears Up for Spring Season

Kent State starts 2012 spring competition Feb. 5 with Northwestern Dual

The Kent State women's golf team begins the 2012 spring season this weekend, when the Golden Flashes travel to Florida to face Northwestern in a two-team dual at The Club at Admiral's Cove in Jupiter, Fla. The two teams will play 18 holes on Sunday, Feb. 5, for the first spring action of the year for both teams.

It will be the first of six spring dates for the Golden Flashes, as Kent State will travel to Florida three times and make trips to Georgia, Puerto Rico and Columbus, Ohio.

On Monday, GolfWeek tabbed the Golden Flashes as the top pick for the Mid-American Conference. The national publication focused on the leadership of Kent State's senior trio of Mercedes Germino (Necochea, Argentina), Shamira Marshall (Macedonia, Ohio) and Mandi Morrow (Kent, Ohio) and the team's upcoming challenging spring slate.

Kent State will look to defend its 13 consecutive MAC championships April 27-29 at Hawthornes Golf and Country Club in Fishers, Ind.
