Germino Garners MAC Golfer of the Week Honors
Nationally-ranked senior recognized for standout performance at CDI
KENT, Ohio - Mercedes Germino, a senior on the Kent State women's golf team, was honored Wednesday (Feb. 22) as the Mid-American Conference women's golfer of the week.
Germino posted the lowest 18-hole round in her collegiate career with a four-under 68 during the second round of the Central District Invitational Feb. 20. Germino finished tied for fourth overall in the 75-golfer field with a one-over 217, which was better than 16 top 100 golfers at the two-day tournament.
Heading into last week, Germino was ranked 75th nationally by GolfWeek's Sagarin ratings. Germino started the spring season with a 20th place finish at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic Feb. 12-14.
Kent State returns to intercollegiate competition March 16-18 at the Lady Gator Invitational.
