Germino Named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week
Kent State senior golfer aided Golden Flashes in securing their 14th consecutive MAC championship April 27-29
KENT, Ohio – Mercedes Germino, a senior on the Kent State women's golf team, was named a Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday (May 2).
Germino led Kent State to their 14th consecutive MAC tournament title April 29, continuing the conference's longest current streak of conference championships. Missing a playoff for medalist honors by one stroke, Germino finished third overall with an eight-over 224 as Kent State won the team title by 16 strokes. Germino led the MAC tournament field with nine birdies on the weekend, including five in the final round on Sunday.
A native of Necochea, Argentina, Germino owns a 3.92 grade-point average majoring in organizational communication with a double minor in international business and marketing. Germino will graduate this month.
