Tice Named to NWCA All-Academic Team; KSU Squad Earns 3.0 Grade Point Average
KENT, Ohio - Kent State junior 165-pounder Ross Tice (Brookfield, Ohio/Brookfield) was recently named to the 2011 National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic Team. An integrated mathematics major, Tice carries a 3.28 grade point average.
As a team this spring, the Golden Flashes earned a collective semester GPA of 3.0 for the first time since such records were first kept in 1982. In 2009-10, KSU wrestling carried the highest GPA of all teams in the Mid-American Conference.
Earning the NWCA honor for the second consecutive year, Tice also recently earned Academic All-MAC honors for the third straight season.
Tice (30-14) went 2-2 at the NCAA Championships and placed second at the Mid-American Conference Championships. During the first half of the season he placed third at the Body Bar Invitational, sixth at the Hokie Open and seventh at Southern Scuffle.
