Kent State’s 2012 national champion Dustin Kilgore (Berea, Ohio) added another gold medal to his growing collection Sunday, when he won the 96-Kilo Freestyle title at the Pan-American Championships in Colorado Springs.

Kilgore went 4-0 on the day, including a convincing 7-1, 7-1 victory in his final bout over Argentina’s Yuri Alexei Maier.  Other victories came against Venezuela’s Luis Vivenes Urbaneja (7-0, 7-0), Cuba’s Javier Cortina Lacerra (4-1, 0-5, 4-2) and Puerto Rico’s Marcos Santos Bonnet (1-0, 6-0).

Sunday marked the third different freestlye tournament Kilgore has won since taking his Olympic redshirt year and spending most of his time at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.  He also won the Sunkist Open on Oct. 30 and the Cerro Pelado in Cuba on Feb. 16.

The 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials will be held in Iowa City, April 20-21, where Kilgore looks to earn a trip to London this summer.
