Kilgore named MAC Wrestler of the Week
Kent State senior Dustin Kilgore (Berea, Ohio) was named Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week Wednesday. This past weekend, Kilgore won the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, going 5-0 at the two-day tournament with a pin and two major decisions.
The No. 1 ranked 197-pounder in all national polls, Kilgore topped No. 3 Alfonso Hernandez of Wyoming in the finals 5-4. Already the program's record-holder for career victories, the match against Hernandez gave Kilgore his 150th career win. He also defeated No. 12 Andrew Campolattano from Ohio State 6-3 in the semifinals.
Kilgore is 15-0 on the season, winning all four tournaments (Buffalo Invitational, Michigan State Open, Navy Classic, CKLV Invitational) he’s competed in. He also leads the Golden Flashes with six pins and four major deciosions.
Kent State returns to action Dec. 14, visiting Ohio State in its first dual meet of the season.
