Women’s Soccer Adds Transfer Dutton

KENT, Ohio - Kent State women's soccer head coach Rob Marinaro announced Wednesday (June 22) the addition of Jackie Dutton (Bridgeport, Ohio/St. Clairsville/Clemson) to his roster for the 2011 campaign. Dutton will have three years of eligibility remaining at Kent State, beginning with the 2011 season.

"We are excited to have Jackie join our program," said Marinaro. "She's a hard-working player with great character both on and off the field. She has proven she's an incredible goal scorer, and she will be a wonderful addition to our program."

Dutton, a 5-4 forward, played one season at Clemson, where the Tigers posted a 6-13-0 record in 2010. As a freshman, Dutton started 10 of 16 games and tallied six points on two goals and two assists to finish third on the team in scoring.

Prior to her year at Clemson, Dutton was an NSCAA All-America honoree in 2009 after becoming the state of Ohio's all-time leader in scoring as a prep with 192 goals. Dutton was a four-time team MVP at St. Clairsville and was a three-time all-state selection.

At the club level, Dutton played for the Beadling Inferno, where she paired with current Kent State sophomore Megan Johnson (Erie, Pa.) in helping her team capture seven state cup titles and a Region I semifinalist finish in 2010.

Dutton bolsters Kent State's newcomers for the 2011 season to seven, as six freshmen have committed to join the Golden Flashes this fall.

The 2011 season officially begins Friday, Aug. 19 when Kent State hosts Cleveland State at 5 p.m. at Zoeller Field.
